Plug Points for cash
All registered iplug users (Pluggers) can turn their Plug Points into cash.
Once you have collected a minimum of 100 Plug Points, in addition to spending them in the iplug shop or Gifting them to another Plugger, you can redeem them for $25 cash. That's 25 cents per Plug Point.
But charities and schools registered as such with iplug can redeem Plug Points at TWICE THAT AMOUNT. 100 Plug Points for $50.
Schools and charitable organisations can set themselves up as recipients for Plug Points that are Gifted by registered Pluggers. It's simple to do and doesn't cost a thing.
Once set up, your school or charity's name will appear on a database that shows itself to Pluggers when they click GIFT POINTS TO A SCHOOL or GIFT POINTS TO A CHARITY.
Your supporters can then choose to Gift you as many Plug Points as they wish – one or hundreds, it's up to them.
How to join
The process is simple and only takes a few minutes.
1. Click on any of the Register links on the site (or click here)
2. The page for new Pluggers will load.
Where the page asks if you are a School or a Charity wishing to become a recipient, click the link
3. Complete the registration process, following the instructions
4. You will be set up immediately.
The only thing that will take some time is setting up your bank account to receive funds from iplug. This will take no more than 10 working days, but is not necessary for you to begin receiving Plug Points from your supporters.
The value of Plug Points
For schools and charities iplug Plug Points can be redeemed for cash. The value of a Plug Point used in this way is 50 cents. Thus if 2000 Plug Points are redeemed, the recipient receives $1,000 from iplug.
Alternatively, there's no reason why a recipient can't use the Plug Points it collects in the iplug Shop, should there be a product that proves attractive. For example, a school might be interested in a BBQ or sports equipment (once these products are available in the Shop). The value of Plug Points used in the iplug Shop is inevitably higher than 50 cents.
Getting Points
The whole purpose of iplug offering Plug Points to Kiwis is to get New Zealand Plugging (giving feedback to businesses). Ironically (and deliberately) the act of garnering Plug Points from your supporters also helps our cause.
Therefore we encourage you to inform your supporters about iplug, Plugging and Plug Points as soon as possible.
Email database
If you have a supporter's database, simply email your supporters and tell them you have signed up to iplug and would like them to consider Gifting you Plug Points.
If everybody on a database of 5000 became Pluggers and Plugged just ONE BUSINESS, your school or charity will benefit by $2,500 – just like that!
Newsletters
Chances are that you send a newsletter to your parents or supporters on a regular basis. A paragraph in that newsletter could achieve some very interesting results.
