The basic concept of iplug is simple...

Or to put it another way...
iplug is the place where current and past customers of a business can recommend it to new and potential customers. The benefits being;
Consumers can search for, and FIND, businesses whose own customers are happy to recommend them
The businesses with excellent customer relations (and in all likelihood the best service for their customers) can attract NEW CUSTOMERS
Consumers who are prepared to 'Plug' a business can expect to receive preferential treatment – like a reviewer in a restaurant

Overview...
iplug is all about Word of Mouth
What is Word of Mouth?
For thousands of years people have not chosen businesses based on their advertising or signage, but
but on what their customers have to say about them.
Who are you more likely to listen to;
The business owner telling you that they're your best bet?
Or a THIRD PARTY telling you that this company really rocks!
Every business owner knows that new customers who arrive through Word of Mouth recommendation are
the best customers to have. Many successful businesses exist on Word of Mouth recommendation alone.

iplug is also a business directory
(But not like any other business directory you've seen or used!)
What's a Business Directory?
The most common form of Business Directory is a Phone Book. In recent times, these handy sources of information have gone online, and you can use them to search for businesses – among other things.
BUT...
Did you know that with just about every business listing directory in existence, whether online or in print, the MOST PROMINENT businesses presented to you are the ones that paid the listing company the most money?
What this means is that when you search for a business, the results you are getting are based on what the business paid to list, not whether or not that business is a good one for you...

And iplug is about giving rewards
Why do we hand out Rewards to New Zealanders?
Let's face it, we live in a busy world. Work, family, sports and leisure (not necessarily in that order) take up so much of our time that we sometimes forget to do the stuff we should be doing.
The whole concept of iplug revolves around customers Plugging the businesses that they use, so that new and intending customers can read these Plugs before choosing which business they deal with.
But if nobody ever Plugged anybody, (or got A Round Tuit) where's the return for business searchers?
Which is why we at iplug decided an little incentive might be helpful in ensuring that New Zealanders do what good consumers SHOULD be doing – Plugging!

A few quick FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
What's a Plug?
A Plug is a positive feedback. On iplug, we expect a little more than a 'good onyer mate!' A good Plug should explain a little about what service was provided and how it was received. For example;
"We called IPLUG Plumbers in the middle of an All Black test and although Mister Iplug is a huge rugby fan he dropped everything and came running, fixing our emergency in less than an hour. That's what I call great service!"
Can we give a negative feedback?
Yes you can. We call a negative Plug a SLAP, and wherever you find a Plug button you will also find a Slap button. However, we strongly discourage Slaps except as a VERY LAST RESORT. For more on making negative comments, see Before You Slap.
Can anyone earn rewards?
No, but most New Zealanders can. You must register as a Plugger and give us some basic information. You will have to be 18 years of age to register, or over 15 with the permission of your parent or guardian. More about eligibility here.
Why do we have to register?
Because you will be making public comments on legal businesses in New Zealand. It would be irresponsible of us to allow completely random individuals to potentially abuse the iplug site.
Are our personal details public?
No. The only details that are public are your ALIAS and the optional demographics you can add to your profile. Your name, address and contact details are confidential between iplug Limited and you. See our privacy policy here.
Does it cost to become a Plugger?
No. It's completely free.
Does it cost to list my business?
Yes. But it's not going to break the bank. A full page of your business information, logo and contact details on iplug is $99 +GST per year. This entitles you to collect Plugs and build your Plug Rating. More information on listing a business here.
